Meadow Creek Flood Risk Management
In an effort to improve the base level of protection for properties along Drain 53, from 25th Street to 52nd Avenue South, the City of Fargo is preparing a project plan that incorporates earthen levees, channel relocation, storm sewer improvements, a storm water pond, and other associated features.
In the 2009 flood fight, this neighborhood banded together to place approximately 200,000 sandbags. Many residents expressed a strong desire to minimize future efforts. To accommodate this request, the City has worked with Houston Engineering to develop a preliminary plan.
On June 21, 2010, this plan was first presented to the public. Based on feedback received following that presentation additional plans were developed and presented to the public on August 3, 2010. At this time the plan that will be recommended is Option A1 with a cost of approximately $1.8 Million. Comments on the plan are being accepted until August 13, 2010. Comment forms, the option layouts, and the presentations are available on the right hand column of this webpage.
