CodeRED is an automated notification system the city can use to call up to 60,000 phone numbers per hour with a recorded message. CodeRED can reach Fargo residents by residential phone, business phone or cell phone. It will make three attempts to contact citizens and will leave messages in voicemail boxes and on answering machines. Emergency managers can send a message to the entire city or or to a selected area.

The only way to be sure your information is entered into the CodeRED system is to sign up for the notifications. Your information will only be used for emergency notification purposes.

CodeRED alerts could be issued for a variety of situations, including natural disasters, terrorism threats, gas leaks, water contamination and chemical spills.
