Board of Health
Present: Michelle Donarski, JD; Nicholas Dorsher, DDS; Dinah Goldenberg; Diane Moderow; Ken Pawluk; Richard Rohla, MD; and Mike Thorstad
Excused: Kathryn Leclerc, and Tim Mahoney, MD
Others Present: Larry Anenson, Ruth Bachmeier, Myron Berglund, Desi Fleming, Doug Murphy, Melissa Perala, and Kim Vance
Michelle Donarski called the meeting to order.
Announcements: Kathryn Leclerc submitted her resignation from the Board. If anyone knows of someone who they would like to nominate for the community representative to the board, let Ruth know. We have an officer position open and item will be placed on agenda for next meeting.
We did not receive the NACCHO grant but will go ahead with the community assessment.
Have been offering staff assistance to Bismarck and Minot for the flooding.
Added universal Immunizations to the agenda.
Approve Minutes May 20, 2011: Mike Thorstad moved the minutes from the Board of Health May 20, 2011 be approved. Dinah Goldenberg seconded the motion. All members present voted aye, and the motion was declared carried.
2012 Budget: Budget packets were circulated. Ruth walked through budget line by line, minimal changes from the previous year. The changes are primarily grants no longer being received and revenue increases.
Revenue and Expenses: Highlighted changes in refugee grant and answered questions. Significant budget is in salary and benefits set by the City of Fargo. Discussed how certain line items may need a more detailed description.
Cass County Budget: Did not make any changes in services, only change is salary.
Jail Budget: Just reflects salary increases. Discussed pay scale and why jail had larger increase.
West Fargo Budget: Added some nursing time and that is reflected in this budget. Will finalize when meeting with West Fargo this week.
Dinah Goldenberg moved to approve the 2012 budget. Dr. Rohla seconded the motion. All members present voted aye, and the motion was declared carried.
Universal Immunizations: We are leaning to staying as is on October 1, supporting the medical home concept in our community like the private sector. We will have this on the agenda next time around.
