Dakota Discussions Series – Shakespeare’s Hamlet: Two Side of Drama:
Starting in March, the Fargo Public Library will offer a series of three book discussion events that bridge the classic text of Shakespeare’s Hamlet with a contemporary work of fiction, Undiscovered Country, by regional author Lin Enger. Facilitated by Lin Enger, the three Dakota Discussion sessions will offer an in-depth look at the universal themes of tragedy and betrayal. Guided by Enger, the goal of this project is to help participants gain a greater understanding of the literature and its historical, cultural, moral and political significance. Program topics are scheduled for the following dates and times:
Undiscovered Country – Tuesday, March 9 at 7 p.m.
Hamlet Part I – Tuesday, April 6 at 7 p.m.
Hamlet Part II – Tuesday, May 4 at 7 p.m.
All discussions will be held at the downtown Main Library. Additional copies of each title are available at the Main Library Circulation Desk. Participants are encouraged; but not required, to read the books for this series.
For more information on this series, please contact Melisa at mduncan@cityoffargo.com or call 476-4076.
Funding for the Dakota Discussion program is provided by the North Dakota Humanities Council (NDHC), a nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of the NDHC or the NEH.
