The Children's Services Department offers a variety of materials and programming for children and their families.
Baby Rhyme Time
Babies ages birth to 18 months are invited to join us on Thursday, May 16 for the next sessions of lapsit storytimes. Held the first and third Thursdays of each month, Baby Rhyme Time takes place at the Dr. James Carlson Library at 10 a.m., and at the Main Library at 6:30 p.m. Share songs, fingerplays, short books, rhythms and rhymes with baby while introducing your little one to books and the library! Each session concludes with open play time. No registration is required. One child per grown-up lap please.
Chess Club
All ages and skill levels are invited to a participate in the Fargo Public Library’s new Chess Club! Meetings are held every Thursday between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the Fercho Room at the downtown Main Library. Our May meetings take place on May 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. No registration is required. Magic Tree House Book Club
Join us in the Magic Tree House! Each month we explore with Jack and Annie in the Magic Tree House Book Club at the Dr. James Carlson Library. On May 19 we'll take a look at Tonight on the Titanic. Meetings begin at 2 p.m. and include discussions and/or activities, games, crafts, and snacks. The Magic Tree House Book Club is open to children in grades 1-4. Copies of the current book may be picked up at the Carlson Library Information Desk. Please attend even if you didn't finish the book!
Fencing Demonstration
Calling all musketeers! Coaches from the Fargo-Moorhead Fencing Club will be presenting a fencing demonstration. Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at the Dr. James Carlson Library for an exciting demonstration of swordplay. No registration is necessary for this all ages event.
