Employee of the Month
Officer Todd Wahl has been selected as the March 2010 Employee of the Month. Todd is originally from Jamestown North Dakota, and is a graduate of NDSU, with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He is also a graduate of the UND-Lake Region Peace Officer Training Academy. Todd was formerly “Thundar”, the mascot NDSU Bison Athletics, and later “Hawkeye” the mascot for the F-M Redhawks.
Todd was hired by the Fargo Police Department in 1996 as a parking enforcement officer, and was promoted to police officer in 1999. In 2009, he began his current assignment as the dayshift downtown resource oficer (DRO), which is a position that provides enhanced police services to downtown Fargo. Todd really enjoys his assignment as a DRO, and takes a great deal of pride in helping make downtown Fargo a safe, clean, and vibrant place.
Along with his duties as a DRO, Todd serves as one of the department’s three crisis intervention team (CIT) officers. As a CIT officer, Todd is trained to respond to persons dealing with crisis situations, especially individuals who are suffering from mental illness. He is certified by the Minnesota CIT Officers Association, and has also been certified as a CIT facilitator by the Barbara Scheider Foundation. Todd has also been certified as a mental health response specialist by the Butler Tech Law Enforcement Institute of Hamilton, Ohio. Officer Wahl is also a member of CIT International.
Todd is an instructor for the police department and is also very active on the bike patrol.
Todd lives in Fargo, with his two children. Todd enjoys playing softball, and is the manager for the Fargo Police Association’s softball team, The Blue Sox. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, bowling and skiing.
